Lent Reflection: Story Time

Today I’ve been spending some time on YouTube looking at different videos based on the story of the Prodigal Son.

I was going to share just one, but I’ve realised that my reflections are coming more out of watching different ones and seeing what they pick up on. So this post is going to be very little of me, and with a few different videos posted below which I think are worth checking out. EDIT: The videos don’t seem to be showing up if you’re viewing these by email but they do work if you view it in your browser.

This first one is more traditional in style – we see Jesus sitting at a table telling the story to his disciples.

This is an interesting recontextualisation of the story into the world of Facebook.

This one is a modern performance of the story. It’s somewhat theatrical and arty in style, but it’s engaging and worth watching.

This had to be included, I mean come on!

Another great contemporary retelling of the story.

Lastly, this one is utterly mesmerising, taking a slightly different approach to the story.

Watch through them, see what stands out to you and let me know in the comments below. If you know of an amazing one which I’ve not included, then let me know!
